December Update

Hello High Country Snowmobilers,

I'd like to welcome our new club members who joined at last month's kick off party. We had a great turn out considering it was dumping. Thanks to the generous donations from club business members, and outside sponsors, we were able to raise $2,000 for the club's grooming program.

It seems winter is finally upon us and with all this recent snow, the riding is fantastic. Hope you have a chance to get out there this weekend and tear it up. If you do go, please check out the current avalanche forecast @ https://avalanche.state.co.us/pub_bc_avo.php?zone_id=2

We have the monthly club meeting coming up next Tuesday December 10th at 6pm in Frisco at Q4U. Hope to see you all there, we will have several things to discuss including our event schedule:

  • Grooming program is off and running, cat maintenance is complete, fuel is being delivered, the guys plan to get out next week and start grooming all the Spring Creek trails. I have heard reports from the Dillon Rangers of a possible logging project in Spring Creek between the upper road and the lower road this winter, we'll have to wait and see if they start and how it might impact our grooming routes.
  • December Monthly ride is scheduled for Sunday December 15th at 9am. Ride location to be determined Tuesday, with the info added to our web site calendar soon after.
  • We will also be having the January ride earlier than normal next month, in order to accommodate the holiday weekends and the CSA convention in Crested Butte. The January ride will be held on January 11th, location to be determined.
  • The January club meeting will be held Tuesday January 14 in Frisco.

In cooperation with Mike from Silverthorne Powersports, we will be co-hosting the annual snowmobile safety seminar on January 16th at the Summit Senior Center in Frisco at 6:00 pm. There will be snowmobile specific avalanche safety presentations provided by Summit County Search and Rescue, free sandwiches provided by the club, maybe presentations by the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, cool give away's and all kinds of fun. Tell your friends.

Lots of fun stuff happening, don't forget to renew your club membership if you haven't already. You can do it at Tuesday's meeting or online at http://www.snowmobilecolo.com/

Hope to see everyone on the snow or at Tuesday's meeting in Frisco.

Thanks,

Rich Holcroft
